Jean-François Bourque
B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biology, UL
Biologist at the Centre Interuniversitaire de la Recherche sur le Saumon Atlantique
http://www2.bio.ulaval.ca/CIRSA/

Jean-François worked as a research assistant during his undergraduate studies, which enabled him to discover the world of scientific research. He then undertook a Master's degree in fish ecology. Thereafter, he obtained a position as head biologist at the CIRSA. His tasks consist of planning research projects, helping various associated researchers and analyzing, writing and publishing results of the research center.

Isabelle Laurion
Ph.D. in Biology, UL
Professor at the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique
http://www.ete.inrs.ca/

Isabelle began her studies in astrophysics, but quickly realized at which point she wanted above all to study our planet, to learn about its mysteries and, if possible, contribute to its conservation. Following her graduate studies at Laval University, Isabelle undertook two post-doctorate fellowships before obtaining a professor position at the Water, Earth and Environment sector of the INRS. This position allows her much  freedom for her research and the students she wishes to direct.

Nathalie Girard
M.Sc. in Biology, UL
Biologist for the environmental advisory panel of Kativik
http://www.keac-ccek.ca/

Biology is really a beautiful field to study! Nathalie found it so interesting that she devoted her undergraduate studies to biology, followed by a Master's project in ecology at the Centre d'études nordiques, a group affiliated to Laval University. Thereafter, she worked for 2 years with the Quebec goverment, in the Sociéte de la Faune et des Parcs du Québec. Today, she holds a biologist position in environment in Kuujjuaq for the Advisory Environment Panel of Kativik. According to Nathalie, motivation and perseverance will carry you wherever you wish to go!

Marianne Gagnier
B.Sc. in Biology, UL
Supervisor/biologist
Fédération des Trappeurs Gestionnaires du Québec
http://www.ftgq.qc.ca

Having grown up in a family of trappers, Marianne has always had a fascination for biology. Therefore, it was only natural for her to study a bachelor's degree in Biology at Laval University. Afterwards, she worked for a little more than a month in a nature centre before obtaining a biologist position at the Fédération des Trappeurs Gestionnaires du Québec. Her work implies the preparation of information pamphlets, events and the defense of rights and interests of trappers. Her responsibilities are very diversified, which she says makes her work fascinating and meaningful.

Jérôme St-Cyr
M.Sc. in biology, UL
Research Professional
Canadian Research Chair in conservation genetics of aquatic organisms

http://www.bio.ulaval.ca/louisbernatchez/

Jerôme chose to study biology because of the diverse opportunities it offered and  began a bachelor's degree at Laval University. For the first summer of his degree, he got a job in a hospital research center. After graduating, he got a job as a reserch professional in a molecular ecology laboratoiry on Laval University campus. The research environment in which he works being very challenging, this encouraged him to begin graduate studies. After he got his master's degree, Jérôme carried on his research in the laboratory. His work mostly consists in the design of specific primers and in the tuning of experimental protocols for the quantification of gene expression in different fish species, while also offering a technical support to graduate students in their various research projects.
